Ariane Baer MS’08, and a former visiting French lecturer at Geneseo, spent six years in Senegal, Africa at an international school in Dakar, as an English and philosophy teacher and vice principal. She returned to visit friends, the country she loves and to see her one-time seventh-graders graduate in July, and took her Scene with her. She also visited the Slave House, which remembers the Senegalese who were taken from their homeland.
Skiing Through Roemer Arboretum
Associate Professor George Briggs, a 23-year faculty member and chair of the biology department, enjoys snowfall and solitude along trails in the Spencer J. Roemer Arboretum. Emeritus Spencer J. Roemer donated the 20 acres to encourage students and the Geneseo community to understand, enjoy and preserve the natural world.

El Salvador
Kyla O'Brien '07, of Sayville, N.Y., poses with her Scene during a “Love in Motion” Medical Mission Trip to El Salvador, where she helped to distribute prescriptions and translate care in Spanish to patients in impoverished villages. The group raises money to bring doctors to provide care to residents who would otherwise never receive it.
